I attended the RESI Property Convention last week, and was expecting to hear the usual news about the UK property market, but this was very different to any convention I’ve ever been to. In fact, what I found out was so remarkable that I’ve been moved to write this blog to give you all the juicy bits from the three day convention.
The RESI Convention is the annual meeting place for the residential property sector organised by Property Week and it was held here in Newport at the Celtic Manor.
I’d like to share some of the highlights with you:
-
The New Craze Of Build To Rent:
-
This is a way of building housing for those tenants that will be renting for a while. It is a way for them to have security knowing that the property won’t be sold. It is also build to increase their lifestyle, many build to rent buildings include things like, gyms, parking, pools and they offer 5 years tenancy agreements. Could this be the future of renting?
-
The money invested by the government in build to rent projects module is expected to grow by 108% by 2021.

Brexit And The Impact on House Prices:
-
Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England, warned the U.K that house prices could fall by 33% after Brexit. However the experts at the convention means this is a scare tactic being used and it is extremely unlikely to be the case.

Protecting Our Environment:
-
Large developers like Barratt Homes are being far more focused on how building properties can affect the environment. They are now working with the The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in making new sites Eco-friendly to help preserve the UK countryside.
